Most of the folks now a days are looking to work on tools like Cypress, Playwright, WebDriverIO. Before working on that you need to have a solid idea of what the concepts of javascript are. So that you know what the JS code is doing and you can code better.
Also now a days a lot of companies expect the SDET/QA to have good programming skills so that they can write good quality code – and that is a great expectation because one should be able to write good code for testing also.
